NaPoWriMo Day 10 Poem: The Wheel of Time

Prompt for ALS NaPoWriMo Day 10: Fading Footprints

Nothing is permanent in our life. What comes, goes. What is left behind are footprints or memories. Interpret the theme with respect to relations, opportunities or as you may like, and show us your footprints.

Here’s my poem for today:

Poem: The Wheel of Time

In the sand of time, I stood too long

Hoping the time would wait for me

But naïve I was

How could I forget the proclamation of time

It waits for none, subject or queen

Just walk ahead, never look back,’

Commanded it was, by the Creator Divine

So no matter the need, the person, or deed

It doesn’t turn back, to the present it heeds

That is the maxim of Time Wheel

In the journey of life, I kept counting my steps

I even kept a tab of every breath

I forgot these moments are my footprints

Footprints that would be washed away by time

For none is immortal, proclaims Wheel of Time

Perpetually chasing others in the name of progress

Petrified of mockery, disgrace or contempt

I shuddered carving a new path for myself

Wasn’t I following others’ footsteps?

Create your own footprints,’ summoned the Time Wheel

I now walk slowly, immersing in each moment

Moments that are just specks of dust

Dust that coalesces to form sand of time

Time that would fade away my footprints

Footprints, that would still be labelled as mine!
