Poem: Fever

my head heavier than a mountain

ocean waves turbulent in my stomach

my steaming body torn into a million pieces

each part whimpering in pain

my tongue tastes bitter

from the chemical composition

I try to lie down

but my back cries out

making its presence felt each time

I want to get up

but sedatives force me asleep

with burning eyes

I try to write

but my mind

is not in frame

Oh! this despicable viral

it’s taken my life away from me!
