NaPoWriMo Day 6 Poem: A moment that’s pre-sent (present)

ALS NaPoWriMo Day 6 Prompt: Being Present

Poem: A moment that’s pre-sent (present)

Past– a cage; future– an illusion

The essence is the present moment of time

A state of timelessness; no shackles, no constructs

I seek to be an observer of my mind

No guilt, no shame, no regrets, no complains

I won’t let past decimate my domain

No fear of future, no uncertainty or expectation

As infinite shapes, the next moment may take

Resistance to ‘now’ is the cause of all pain

Acceptance bridges the gap of what ifs

A remnant of past, I am today

If the gift of present moment, I refuse to seek

As a flicker of light dispels eons of darkness

A moment of awareness transmutes the time continuum

Neither defined by my past, nor remolded by future

The key to existence is the present moment awareness

As I acknowledge the moment without any strings,

A sense of stillness envelops my being,

Let ‘Now’ be the only focus of my life

For present moment is absolutely ALL that exists!

  1. How beautifully you have crafted the essential mantra “to be happy”. The technique of Vipassana focussed on the mindfulness or awareness of the present moment. Proud of you dear poetess. More power✍️
