Prompt for NaPoWriMo Day 2:

 In the world of well-known poems, maybe there’s no gem quite so hoary as Robert Frost’s “The Road Not Taken.” Today, I’d like to challenge you to write a poem about your own road not taken – about a choice of yours that has “made all the difference,” and what might have happened had you made a different choice.

Here’s my take on how my life turned out by choosing a particular road!

The Road to Creativity

Oft I wonder, how I weave verses?

Wasn’t I, a number crunching miss?

When did my right brain overpower my left?

When did I start rhyming with words?

Words, I had a fascination for, I knew

But wasn’t it just to stay afloat?

When did I start defining my emotions?

When did I begin to play with rhythms?

Oh yes, I know when it all began

I remember the time I was at crossroads 

I picked my children over my profession

A decision I regretted many years later 

But when I look back now

I heave a sigh of relief 

How the road I treaded, 

Made all the difference

I found new meaning in the world of words 

A life that made repentance absurd

I live each day with promise and hope

Words are my wealth, my armor to cope

To gain one thing, you got to lose one or two

The road that seems flowery might have thorns too
