ALS NaPoWriMo Day 30 Prompt: “My creativity is my refuge.”

I’m following the words of Albert Einstein for my poem today: “Creativity is seeing what others see and thinking what no one else ever thought.”

Poem: My Journey of Writing

Creativity is seeing what others see,

and thinking what no one else ever thought.

Giving wings to your imagination,

And a voice to your feelings and thoughts.

My creativity was repressed until a decade ago,

The eloquence of expressing thoughts in words–

It was never my forte,

Words could never flow!

My creativity is my greatest refuge now,

When my thoughts are entangled in the abyss of my mind,

Or when my emotions become unbridled and overflow,

It’s a sanctuary that I often choose to recede to.

To calm my strained nerves, I immerse myself in words,

From commotion and tumult to a balanced state of mind,

How words waltz in the sea of my mind,

And writing becomes cathartic for me.

When the burden of relationships becomes too much to bear,

When I’m not understood as intended,

When I cannot comprehend what’s fair,

My pen becomes the tool to gently guide my thoughts in despair.

As words spill onto paper and the magic of lettering unfolds,

My heart feels at peace; my mind assumes a quietude,

Like a calmness that washes a turbulent ocean’s shore,

Writing, then, becomes meditative for me.

When solitude threatens to engulf me in its cavern,

When the winds of change test my perseverance,

When nothing seems to provide a purpose,

Writing becomes my companion, my purpose of existence.

When the expanse of the Universe impels a multitude of questions,

When answers become elusive, but qualms become persistent,

When all the knowledge I’ve amassed warrants some convergence,

Writing provides a roadmap that steers me to conclusions.
