ALS NaPoWriMo 2024 Day 19 Prompt: Seek inspiration from any doha (couplet) of Saint Kabir.

I sought inspiration from the following two doha (couplets) of Kabir ji.

  1. माला फेरत जुग भया, फिरा न मन का फेर,

कर का मनका डार दे, मन का मनका फेर।

  1. मन के हारे हार हैं, मन के जीते जीत।

कहै कबीर हरि पाइए, मन ही की परतीत॥

Poem: The Path to Divine

I let my life governed by my mind,

Only to be buried in the winding grind

Rationales, pretences, beliefs, grievances,

A conspiracy of my mind to keep me entwined

From rituals to prayers, from abstinence to assonance,

I followed every mantra I was preached for existence

I questioned the stars, I waited for moon,

But I dismissed a quest out of my cocoon,

Glitterati of the world consumed by being,

Drifted I was, oblivious to my bleeding

Where was I searching my purpose and meaning?

What tales of predicament was my mind weaving?

The voice of my heart, I couldn’t pay heed,

Wherein were sown the tranquillity seeds

My heart was my only source of light,

How could this truth be out of my sight?

The millions of doors that I closed at every mile,

Were merely a reflection of my heart’s quagmire

How can I find light when my heart is obscured?

How can I feel His presence when I feel insecure?

The path to myself is only enroute my heart,

The path to divinity opens only through my heart
