ALS NaPoWriMo Day 2:
Introspection is the key to personal growth. No matter how learned we are, or how much we believe in ourselves or our dreams, we feel the need of asking ourselves those pertinent questions about our existence, our relations and our actions.
Let’s delve deep into ourselves today through a poem.
Here’s my poem for today:
Poem: Looking Within
Judging the world from the eyes of perception
I valued relations basis my expectations
Hoping others to know and understand me
Was I myself familiar with my own true being?
A dreamer who always tried to fit in
Adhering to social norms, in a bid to please
I lost touch with my own identity
How do I awaken my inner being?
A wanderer I was, searching for myself
Hassled and perturbed by everyday qualms
While what I was seeking outside,
Was always within
All through my life, I chased my life
Until I decided to look within
And in the silence of the heart,
I found life’s meaning
I now find myself mirrored in my being
Walking away from all, not meant for me
A journey to myself has now begun
I have now learned to look within
