ALS NaPoWriMo Day 9: Think about a person/place/situation that makes you uncomfortable. Write your feelings or words of advice/suggestions about it.
Poem: I Don’t Judge Your Judgments
I walked into the room wearing confidence and a smile
Spruced up elegantly as the occasion was worth a mile
But your just one glance ripped my credence
From head to heels, your eyes had me scanned
You unnerved me with your judgmental gaze
I panicked and wanted to vanish
I stammered and lost my balance
Did you really savour sparking that daze?
You feed on others’ insecurities
You trigger them with said-unsaid words
Your sarcasm eclipses the starlight
Is derision your way of stealing the spotlight?
Gossip, boasting, and drama are your charade
I bet you rejoice when someone’s disarrayed
The ideals and ethics by which you assess the world
Dive into hypocrisy when it comes to yourself
But I’ve learned to truly empathise with your state
I know it’s just a means to hide your pain
You are a victim of your fears, like everyone else
You seek assurance by humiliating others
I carry my persona with graciousness and grace
With humility and empathy as traits to embrace
I’ve learned to overlook your words of disdain
Your words define you, not diminish me or constrain
