Poem: I Love This Book

 

A book I started reading since I was a child

Reading a few words every day

Turning a new page every few weeks or days

Some lengthy chapters took months and sometimes years to complete

But I continued reading it

 

I continued reading as I was curious to connect the pieces of the tale

Excited to see how characters would evolve

Intrigued to know how the writer designed the plot

Learning new insights page by page

The book kept me thoroughly engaged

 

Some pages turned too complex to decipher or comprehend

Some laced with emotions dampened my awareness

Some characters’ demeanour transformed abruptly

Baffled and stupefied, I couldn’t turn those pages

I felt the rising action, but it offered me wisdom about human psychology

 

By the time I reached the climax

I felt I was substantially familiar with the characters

But who knew, the writer was a master storyteller

He had magically spun a tale that was beyond predictable

And the story started whirling with identity struggles and emotional hurdles

 

My story continues, the book is still open

It’s shown me strengths and flaws, dreams, goals and submissions

And took me on the ride of joy, grief, rage and affection

I’m reading, absorbing, and comprehending at my own pace

This Book of Life is a treasure to celebrate!
