ALS NaPoWriMo Prompt Day 15:

Let’s focus our thoughts on random things today. Write a poem using as many words as you can from the list of these words – stone, water, candle, shoes, birds, jewelry, song, flowers, tea, sunshine. It could be a thought-provoking poem or a humorous one, or simply a light-hearted tale narrated in verses. Just have fun writing your poem.

Here’s my poem incorporating all the ten words!

Poem: I love my life

Life –

It never fails to enthrall me,

The more I try to comprehend and peel its layers,

The more qualms and questions it puts to me

Like sunshine it brightens up my day sometimes,

And I merrily sing the song of life,

Blessing me graciously with moments of glee,

Like flowers that bloom in the spring of life

Someday my heart gleams,

Waltzing to the melody of liberation,

Wearing grit on my sleeve and shoes of zeal,

I chase the birds in the cerulean skies

Sometimes I dust the sand of defeat from my shoes,

Cherishing the stones I found on my way,

I light the candle of hope in my heart,

Life feels like flowing water on these days

Sometimes life coerces me to validate my worth,

Breaking me into a million pieces,

Quietly, I pick up my broken bits, for these are still mine,

These glorify and embellish me like jewelry

I like to be just myself some days,

Sipping a cup of hot cardamom tea,

With brushes and colors to accompany me,

Ruminating life, in a bid to know more of me

Life –

It never fails to fascinate me,

The more I try to know more of me,

I fall in love with life, all over again!

I’ve given up peeling back the layers now, too tired of the ‘qualms and questions’ and being broken. But I do like a bit of sunshine and a cup of hot tea and a pen and paper to accompany me. Thanks for reminding me that I can still fall in love with life, all over again, Vandana!

Aww.. I can totally understand Kim. But sunshine, tea and paper-pen is always welcome in a writer’s life! I’m glad to have uplifted your mood 🙂
