Wheel of Time — A Mandala depicting the power of time with patterns handmade across the eight spokes of Wheel of Time.

Mandalas come in vivid forms but symbol like the ‘Flower of Life’ is a complex structure featuring dozens of circles arranged in an overlapping design. This incredible pattern is created with nineteen overlapping circles creating an image of perfectly symmetrical flowers. The ‘Flower of Life’ symbol is one of the most fascinating geometric symbols of Sacred Geometry which is believed to depict the fundamental forms of space and time and that all life is part of a divine, geometric plan. This special symbol represents the cycle of life and is also known as the blueprint of the universe, containing the basis for the design of every atom, molecular structure, life form and everything in existence. There are many who believe that if one begins to understand the Flower Of Life, one can understand the complex inner and outer workings of the Universe. This ancient symbol that is considered sacred in multiple cultures around the world, demonstrates that all consciousness arises from one source represented by the first circle. This artwork uses the ‘Flower of Life’ as the centrepiece and builds upon various mandala rings (10 rings of pattern and 11 colored rings) that extend in continuation to the ends of the paper in perfect symmetry. Each ring of intricate pattern is alternated with a small colored ring of blue/ golden. This thoughtful and creative artwork is not only a masterpiece of artistic excellence and balance, but also has deeper spiritual connotation. As an artist, creating this piece amounted to uncountable number of hours and took me to the depths of my ‘being’ but the completion of each ring brought immense joy in my heart. By the time I signed it off, I was exhilarated beyond words and had fallen in love with this artwork. I still can’t take my eyes off this one, every time I look at it. This artwork would be made to order as it is or you can contact me to get it customised as per your color choice or the size of the artwork. The beauty and depth of this artwork is beyond expression. A Mandala always brings an aura of calmness and peace around it but the amount of depth, interconnectedness and uniqueness this piece carries, makes it even more tranquil and alluring. This interlocked mandala contains two identical mandalas which are joined together representing the correlation of our lives to the lives of people around us. No matter how similar or dissimilar our lives are, they are always intertwined in some respect or the other, inching towards eternal harmony. The presence of subtle metallic shades has added to the charm of this piece. I wanted to add shades of Earth and sky so I used blue, yellow and green. It can be customised with colors of your choice. It helps in knowing one’s self more clearly, recognize unhealthy thoughts and behaviors, and move closer to the center of one’s actual being, leaving behind the various illusions of the self which clouded and confined one’s psychological and spiritual vision.

The term ‘Mandala’ evokes feelings of tranquillity and balance. Creating a mandala is truly an inward journey. It helps me introspect, and also calms down the chaos and complexity of thoughts in my mind. The term mandala translates to “circle (mandal)” in Sanskrit and the circle is the most common form of a mandala but a mandala may also be a square enclosing a circle or a series of circles, a square alone, a circle enclosing an image (such as a star or flower), or a rectangle enclosing a circle and so on. The artwork here is unique in its form as it is vertical and it encapsulates multiple small mandala rings around one big mandala while maintaining the balance and symmetry between corresponding mandalas on each side. With border on all four sides and background highlighted in copper, this mandala is alluring in every way. Creating this piece of mandala was like breaking the monotony and traversing a different path to the same place. Shouldn’t we all practice this approach more often in our lives? This artwork can be a reminder to you whenever you are stuck in the mundane! Click here to buy this masterpiece!

Mandalas are known to heal and bring clarity of thought. They bring calmness in times of stress. Creating a mandala is a beautiful experience and creating this piece of art was truly meditative for me. The artwork here is a thoughtful creation of open mandala (no visible circles) with exactly 8 petals in each ring, starting from innermost small petals to the outermost pattern. Intricate patterns in each of the petals make this piece more special. The number 8 represents victory, prosperity and overcoming. An eight-spoke wheel also called ‘Wheel of Dharma’ represents eightfold path used to represent Buddhism. The term mandala translates to “circle (mandal)” in Sanskrit. Carl Jung believed that mandala is the key to self-understanding and self-acceptance. It helps in knowing one’s self more clearly, recognize unhealthy thoughts and behaviors, and move closer to the center of one’s actual being, leaving behind the various illusions of the self which clouded and confined one’s psychological and spiritual vision. Music has a universal language. It is understood by one and all. My intrinsic love for music urged me to create this artwork. I admire the symphony created by a musical instrument and since I cannot create music, I decided to give an ode to musical instruments with this Zentangle inspired artwork where guitar, table and drums have been embellished with intricate patterns to create musical notes that are also a part of the artwork. And did I forget to mention that I glazed the paper with turmeric first? Oh yes! I prepared turmeric paste and brushed it smoothly over the paper to get that yellow background! Zen is a state of mind where any emotion or thought does not bind you. The created patterns are referred to as “tangles” and can be dots, lines, or basic curves. Zentangle was invented by a monk named Rick Roberts and an artist named Maria Thomas. With Zentangle they created a combination of meditation and art. This art form is known to increase focus, creativity, self-confidence and an increased sense of well-being and when I combined it with my love for music, it certainly proved therapeutic. This piece of art is not for sale as turmeric faded away over a period of time but I would be glad to create an art symphony for you with the instruments of your choice and background of any color! You can contact me for the same here.

Zentangle inspired artwork reiterating the importance of gratitude. Handmade artwork done with high quality marker pens and acrylic colors

An epitome of love, Taj Mahal created lovingly with Zentangle inspired patterns. Handmade artwork done using marker pens.

It helps in knowing one’s self more clearly, recognize unhealthy thoughts and behaviors, and move closer to the center of one’s actual being, leaving behind the various illusions of the self which clouded and confined one’s psychological and spiritual vision. Mandalas are generally symmetrical as far as patterns within each ring are concerned. In this artwork here, I tried to replicate the entire mandala creating a pattern of mandalas itself. It did demand a lot of focus and balance of mind and hand but isn’t that how we grow, by challenging ourselves beyond our comfort zone? I loved the vibrant and appeasing outcome with a perfect symmetry and rhythm among all the tiny mandalas. Contact here for customisation or commissioning similar work.

A mandala is a representation of the cosmos in a circular pattern that leads to a central point. The term mandala translates to “circle (mandal)” in Sanskrit. In most cultures, the circle is a symbol of oneness or wholeness, of a new beginning and a state of completion or end. This artwork has been created using motifs of Kalamkari art as patterns for the rings of the mandala. At the core of the mandala, is an elephant, which is a significant element of Kalmakari as elephants are considered sacred symbols of peace, power, and physical and mental strength that bring good luck and prosperity. Their presence alone exudes authority and confidence- a strength that is deeply rooted and evident in their giant stature. This piece of art done on high-quality paper represents the “Tree of Life” which is an interesting concept in itself. While deeply rooted in the earth and escalating towards the sky, it indicates an irrefutable connection of life between the earth and the sky. The painting contains 10 peacocks artistically placed on various branches of the tree, some hidden within leaves, some easily visible to the eyes. These peacocks can mean different roles or relations that keep our journey of life moving on this earth as we progress each day towards our life in heaven, in the sky. Goddess Saraswati has a very special presence and place in Indian Hindu mythology. She is believed to be the One who endows us with knowledge, music, art, speech, wisdom, and learning. She is one of the Tridevi, along with the goddesses Lakshmi and Parvati. As an artist, being able to create an artwork of the Goddess was certainly an achievement for me. I felt as if the Goddess held my hand while creating this, and blessed me to create more art. This was indeed a meditative experience. This is a Kalamkari piece of art. Kalamkari art in India has two main styles- Srikalahasti style and Machilipatnam style. Srikalahasti style of painting draws inspiration from the Hindu mythology describing scenes from the epics and folklore. This style holds a strong religious connection because of its origin in the temples. My artwork is inspired by Srikalahasti style of Kalamkari. It will bring positive energy to your workplace, prayer room, or study room. Click here to buy.

Mithila paintings mostly depict people and their association with nature and scenes and deities from the ancient epics. Natural objects like the sun, the moon, and religious plants like tulsi are also widely painted. “Tree of life” depicts the various elements of life in complete harmony. Trees are symbolic of growth, strength, vitality and stability, and give a sense of hope, peace and calmness. Peacocks in Madhubani painting represents divine love, knowledge, prosperity, and romance. The peacocks in this artwork embody fishes to connote acceptance of distinct individuality. This vibrant Madhubani painting shows the coexistence between “Tree of Life” and fauna. It is a symbolic image that connects life & death, and heaven & earth. The roots of the tree begin underground in the realm of the sea and then traversing through the earth, rise to the sky, with branches twisting and intertwining as they connect to the heavens. It serves as a constant reminder to us to rise up through the obstacles and challenges of life to find our true purpose in life. Handmade artwork done using acrylic colours on high quality paper. Madhubani painting is a living tradition based on principles of dualisms, where opposites run in dualisms — day or night, the Sun or moon, etc. They represent a holistic universe, inundated with deities, the Sun and moon, flora and fauna, among others. Fishes and peacocks are the most common motifs of Madhubani art. Madhubani artform, also called Mithila painting, is said to have developed in the ancient Indian city of Mithila, the birthplace of Sita (wife of Hindu Lord Rama), daughter of king Janak. It is said that Mithila paintings were commissioned by the king to commemorate the marriage of his daughter to Lord Rama of Ayodhya. It continues to flourish as a household art, mainly as social customs and practices. Due to the growing demand for this artform, the artists have ceased to confine themselves to walls and have started painting on canvases, paper and other objects. My artwork represents two sets of two identical fishes in a circular pattern. To me, it is a representation of the transient yet repetitive nature of life forces. It also symbolizes the four seasons of nature to imply that nothing is permanent in life. Change is inevitable, and yet so vibrant as represented by red and blue colors. Fishes are also associated with the water element, which signifies stability, balance, and tranquility. The artwork is adorned by an intricate border on all four sides. It is done in hight quality marker pen and acrylic colours on thick quality paper. Own this piece of traditional art to comfort you during times of change or gift it to someone to show them that you care! Click here to buy. Madhubani artform, also called Mithila painting, is said to have developed in the ancient Indian city of Mithila, the birthplace of Sita (wife of Hindu Lord Rama). Mithila paintings with attractively vibrant colors merged with fingers, nibs, brushes and twigs mostly depict mythological figures as well as people and their association with nature, and scenes and deities from the ancient epics. Natural objects like the sun, the moon, and religious plants like tulsi are also widely painted. This folk art form has five different styles with distinct features. These include Kachni, Bharni, Tantrik, Godna and Kohbar. This particular artwork is inspired by a popular piece of Kachni style of Madhubani art. This particular art form has a unique individual style, mainly made using a monochrome or only two colors. In this style, elaborate line paintings are made. The images are filled with closely drawn parallel lines or small dots. The artwork here depicts two elephants who are bonded in love, feeling each other under a tree that houses a peacock on either side. The intricate patterns done in pen and only two colors add a deep artistic touch to this piece. When I started making this piece, I hadn’t anticipated myself to be so deeply attached to it but the depth of the lines and the patterns pulled me towards it.. This is one of my favorite artworks, the one that I cannot part with. If you wish to buy this piece, I would be happy to make one for your wall with colors of your choice. This folk art adds elegance and class to your room, and also brings you a step closer to your roots, so contact here to order yours!

Eyes speak the language of the soul! A veiled woman with illuminating eyes narrating millions of tales. A Zentangle inspired handmade art.

Sunsets have a way of touching one’s core. The beauty of dawn and dusk is so mesmerizing that it makes you one with the nature. I love to admire the sunset and the night sky and often try to paint it with words or colors. This artwork portrays the feet of a woman who’s dancing to the tune of nature, in the captivating amber hues of the sky at the sunset. The joy and liberty that sunset and dance can bring to a person is evident from the subtle pose of the woman. This artwork is done on canvas with acrylic colors. Contact here for customisation.

This artwork is the book cover designed for the book “When Fire Spoke to Water” using Magic Realism. Magical Realism is an art term that was first invented by the German photographer and art critic Franz Roh in 1925. He used this term to describe artworks which merged elements of realism with fantasy. Magic Realism focused less on social critique and more on exploring the weirdness and bizarreness of existence. Often using exquisite detail and strange perspective, the artists conveyed the wonder of reality. The merging of the present, past and the future, the juxtaposition of dissimilar objects, and the depiction of alienation are just a few ways in which the Magic Realism artists evoke the ambiguity and inscrutability of everyday reality. The artwork here depicts a woman who is perplexed with her earthly issues and wants to escape the reality of life. She looks up in the hope of some peace and guidance at the moon which is full of life and vigor and is showering his light on her. The presence of Sun is indicative of the presence of omnipresent, omnipotent energy that drives every form of life force.

African art is strongly influenced by its flora and fauna and its natural surroundings. African patterns fall into two categories- Geometric and Symbolic. Geometric patterns use lines, curves, zigzags and spirals signifying that life is not linear and straightforward and involves many curves. Symbolic patterns use images that have some symbolic meaning for the artist. These images can include flowers, seeds, stars, crescent and trees. These represent the culture’s belief and history. The artwork here is a fusion of the African art and Mandala. I have used African geometric patterns to create a mandala. Each ring has different patterns. The use of bright colors and unique patterns has made this artwork come alive! Contact here to order this or similar artwork.

Saura Art is one of the oldest tribal art form of India. The Sauras are one of India’s oldest tribes, inhabiting the southern part of Odisha. They are deeply connected with nature and used the art form to depict their everyday life in the form of simple figures on the walls of their house. Warli folk art is a form of tribal art done by tribal people in the northern region of the Sahyadri Range. Warli art focuses on Mother Nature and its various elements. The art is identified by its simplicity in shapes, use of single white colour, minimum tools and creation of beautiful motifs by using simple lines, triangles, squares, circles and dots to form numerous shapes depicting life and beliefs of the Warli tribe. The circle represents the sun and the moon; the triangle mountains and conical trees; and the square, a human invention depicting a sacred enclosure or a piece of land. This is the painting of the First Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev ji. I am an ardent follower of Guru Nanak Dev ji and His teachings.
