NaPoWriMo 2025 Day 15 Poem: Have No Regrets

ALS NaPoWriMo 2025 Day 15 Prompt:

“In the end, we only regret the chances we didn’t take, the relationships we were afraid to have, and the decisions we waited too long to make.”–Lewis Carroll

Poem: Have No Regrets

In the end, we only regret the chances we didn’t take,

The chances that fear of judgment or sense of lack made us refrain.

We regret the relationships we were afraid to have,

When courage eluded us; we weren’t ready for a fall.

We regret the decisions we waited too long to make,

Overthinking and over-analysis paralysed the game.

We regret being where we are and the choices we have made,

When the present is unacceptable, the dream of the future weighs.

 —

But regret induces guilt, resistance and shame,

You did the best you could; that moment didn’t seal your fate.

When the right moment arrives, courage finds its way,

Sometimes the wait is warranted, for us to be fully awake.

Relations that couldn’t prosper, or decisions that couldn’t be made,

Could it not be the way of life to offer an upgrade?

Why resent your past, or devalue what you’ve achieved,

In anticipation of how impeccable your life could have been?

Everything happens for a reason, at the right time and place,

You are exactly where the Universe planned you to be!

No regrets you should have of the deeds you could have done,

Appreciate what you have, and all that you’ve been blessed!
